It is an eerie yet exciting place and is the only land border between India and Sri Lanka.The town was initially destroyed during the 1964 Rameswaram cyclone, and since then it has been uninhabited. The Archeological Survey of India has placed a board at the main gate which reads that ” visiting the fort before sunrise and after sunset is strictly prohibited and if rules are violated legal action would be taken.”  You can hear a lot of stories and experiences about the fort from the locals in that area.

The Karni Mata temple is an unusual site that you can barely imagine  It is located in Deshnoke which is approximately 30 km from Bikaner. It is the rat temple, having more than 20,000 black rats. They are everywhere and are called ‘Kabbas.’ Devotees and rats share a special bond, and these rats are worshipped as it believed that the rats are a reincarnated family members of Karni Mata. This place is entirely free of plague or any other diseases.

Nobody knows how this event occurs, but it certainly gives the devotees a magical experience of sorts.
